The status of the LEDs on your modem/router is important for verifying that the CPE is functioning properly. The DSL-side lights will show that it is training up to the DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer -- a network device located at a telephone company central office) and passing traffic. The LAN-side lights will show whether or not it is working on your network. The following chart provides examples.
