When preparing to use your DSL connection for the first time, or
troubleshooting a connectivity problem, check:

SDSL or IDSL service:
The DSL modem/router is
- plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- connected from the DSL port to the wall jack with the DSL (RJ-45) cable provided with your DSL CPE.
- connected from the Ethernet port to your PC Network Interface Card (NIC) via an Ethernet cable.
The PC is
- plugged into a working electrical outlet.
ADSL service:
The DSL modem/router is
- plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- connected from the DSL port to the wall jack with an ordinary telephone (RJ-11) cable.
- connected from the Ethernet port to your PC Network Interface Card (NIC) via an Ethernet cable.
- A line filter is plugged into all other extensions of the phone line you are using for ADSL.
The PC is
- plugged into a working electrical outlet.
