DSL SELF-INSTALL FOR SINGLE-USERS

Self-Install applies only to ADSL service. It allows the end-user to install their own DSL modem without a visit from a technician

Do all ADSL users get the Self-Install Kit?

To qualify for Self Installation, the customer will need to answer NO to the three questions below:
- Do you have six or more devices (phones, fax machines, etc.) on the phone line that you will be using for DSL?
- Do you have a Burglar Alarm or TDD device on your line?
- Is there any other device that will require the use of a splitter on your phone line?

Customers of ADSL service will receive a Self-Install Kit in the mail once service begins. Included in the Self-Install Kit are the following items: DSL modem and power supply DSL cable (same as phone cable) Ethernet cord and 5 blockers, including wall-mount filter (required to block ADSL noise from interfering with telephones on line). The kit will also include the Installation Instructions and Troubleshooting Guide.

What do I do if I require more than one wall mount?

Included in the kit are 5 DSL blockers, of which one is a wall mount. Additional blockers can be purchased at Radio Shack.

What is a blocker, and what devices are they required on?

Customers need blockers on non-DSL devices only and only six other devices other than DSL are allowed for Self-Install.

AT&T's demarcation point for DSL service is the loop jack on your premises. If you order the managed router option on our SDSL service, the demarcation point will be the Ethernet port on the DSL router.

Will the AT&T technician test the DSL service on my personal computer or with my LAN configuration?

No. It is important to note the following:
The AT&T technician will bring a laptop PC to testyour DSL access and your DSL router/modem. Due to liability issues, AT&T cannot assist with configuration or testing of the your personal computer or LAN with the DSL service.

Exactly what is a professional installation?

Professional install means that a technician will be dispatched to the end-user site to do the installation for the ADSL line.

How long after I submit an order will the Self-Install

installation. Professional installation can be requested at a charge of $175.

What happens if I wish to cancel the
Professional installation appointment?

You can cancel your installation appointment at least two
business days beforehand without incurring the Professional Install Fee of $175.

What happens if I want to add an additional device on
my phone line after the DSL is installed?

You can add the additional device with a blocker.
If you have reached the limit of six devices, you
can call 1-877-937-5288 to order a professional installation. You
will be billed $175.
