mailbox) An alias ID allows the end-user to create a new address for themselves
that points back to your original e-mail address. For example, end-users can
streamline communications by setting up an alias address (i.e.,
sales@companyname.com) that distributes all incoming messages received to a
specific email address. This allows end-users to give a single point of contact
that never has to changeeven if employees do. The email alias ID can be between
3 and 32 characters in length. Network Access-ID/Password e-mail authentication
Identification and authentication of both the POP3 and SMTP servers will be done
with the AT&T Network Services registration database.
All connections to the POP3 and SMTP servers will be authenticated before access
is allowed. This database ensures that only registered users will have access to
the POP3 and SMTP servers, and that passwords are verified. Service Level spam
filtration is offered to the customer using "Bright Mail" spam Filtration
technology. Each mail user is given the option to activate or not activate
"Bright Mail". If activated, the service will intercept any mail it recognizes
as spam. Instead of depositing it into the users inbox, the Bright Mail agent
will place the mail into an alternate mail folder (the graymail folder), which
can be periodically reviewed by the user using a web browser. Alternatively, the
user can elect to have incoming mail, which is detected as spam to be
automatically deleted.

How is Business Internet Mail (BIM) different from the IP Mail Platform?
Business Internet Mail is an access independent POP3/Webmail offering.
BIM is for business customers only. Unlike the IP Mail Platform, BIM
customers are able to access their POP3 Mailbox and send SMTP from any
Internet access including AT&T's DSL or MIS connectivity. BIM customers
must configure their SMTP client to use SMTP-Authorization.

Can a user who has Business Internet mail forward mail to a different mailbox?
Yes. Customers can forward e-mail messages to a different mailbox.
If Customers use AT&T Business Dial or AT&T WorldNet consumer
account for mail service, and they switch to DSL, do they have to
change their email address?
WorldNet Consumer accounts
-
If a customer is on WorldNet consumer - their e-mail address ends with the
domain of att.net (some small businesses utilize this service). No changes to
that domain can be made, since it would affect every other customer on domain.
If the customer wants to upgrade to DSL with Business Internet mail, they must
request a new mailbox on the DSL Business Internet Mail service. This will
result in a changed domain name, which by default will change the user's mail
ID.
AT&T Business Dial Customers
- If the customer has their own domain name or a domain name
that ends in attglobal.net, they can retain their email address.

Will mail for AT&T Business DSL Internet Service customers
be accessible from any ISP?
The AT&T Business Internet Mail servers are accessible from the Internet.
Users can send and receive mail using any web browser or any POP3 compliant mail
client such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Netscape Messenger, which
supports authenticated SMTP. Users can get to their mail from anywhere in the
world using their mail ID and password.
If there is an issue or question related to a premise
mail server or 3rd party mail service, can AT&T help with the resolution?
It is not AT&T's responsibility to resolve premise mail server or 3rd
party mail service issues. Mail service provided to DSL customers is POP3
Mailbox service only on AT&T's mail servers. DSL does not provide an SMTP
Relay service to the Internet. If customers have questions about the continued
use of their existing mail service and email addresses with Internet
connectivity using AT&T DSL service, they should direct their questions to
their current mail service provider or administrator. Specifically
they should
insure that they would be able to connect, send and receive mail from their
current mail servers using an AT&T DSL connection.
What size file attachments will the DSL 12-Megabyte Mailbox support?
